Technical Conditions

Simultaneous interpretation is typically provided through interpretation equipment. If the equipment is not part of the conference premises, it may be rented from specialized vendors who will install and service it during the meeting. Each booth must be manned by at least two interpreters.

As any additional language will require another booth, enough space must be set aside for the interpretation area in the conference room.

Interpretation equipment saves you a lot of valuable time by allowing the interpreters to speak almost simultaneously with the speaker, only with a slight pause needed to understand the message.

Due to the demanding nature of their job, simultaneous interpreters are entitled to suitable working conditions.

These working conditions and interpretation technology standards are set forth in Czech National Standard ISO 2603 730503 (Booths for simultaneous interpretation - General Features and Equipment) published in January 2002 by the Czech Institute of Standardization.
