Simultaneous interpretation is typically provided using special interpretation equipment. This aspect is specified in two standards, harmonized with the EU legislation, i.e. ČSN ISO 2603 (Booths for Simultaneous Interpretation – General Characteristics and Equipment) and ČSN ISO 4043 (Mobile Booths for Simultaneous Interpretation – General Characteristics and Equipment). The standards provide basic technical specifications, e.g. booth size and positioning, the interpreter’s unconditional undisturbed view of the speaker, the presence of a technician throughout the entire event to secure correct sound transmission and solve any accidental technical inconvenience.
